چکیده

We introduce a new synthetic marine model for 3D controlled-source electromagnetic method (CSEM) surveys. The proposed includes relevant features the geophysical community such as large conductivity contrast with vertical transverse isotropy and complex bathymetry profile. In this paper, we present experimental setup several CSEM simulations in presence of resistivity unit denoting hydrocarbon reservoir. employ parallel high-order vector finite element routine to perform simulations. By using tailored meshes, scenarios are simulated assess influence reservoir on responses. Our numerical assessment confirms that strongly influences amplitude phase measurements. investigate code performance solution fundamental frequencies high-performance computing architectures. Here, excellent ratios obtained. benchmark its modeling results developed under an open-source scheme promotes easy access data reproducible solutions.

Using a Multi-Frequency Synthetic Aperture Sonar for Bathymetry

This paper describes the implementation of a bathymetric synthetic aperture sonar and presents imagery from preliminary sea trials of the sonar. The sonar is designed for high resolution seafloor imaging in a shallow water environment. To estimate seafloor topology, the sonar ssytem uses the phase difference between elements of a vertical hydrophone array. Since the interferometric process uses...

Bathymetry Reconstruction for a Free-Towed Synthetic Aperture Sonar

This paper discusses bathymetric image reconstruction for a Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) with an emphasis on interferometric phase errors. The effect of misregistration between the receivers is shown to be the dominant source of error and is corrected by estimating the time delay between receivers at each range bin. Results are shown for a simulated seafloor.

SQUID Systems for Geophysical Time Domain Electromagnetics (TEM) at IPHT Jena

Forty years after the first application of Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices (SQUIDs) [1], [2] for geophysical purposes, they have recently become a valued tool for mineral exploration. One of the most common applications is time domain (or transient) electromagnetics (TEM), an active method, where the inductive response from the ground to a changing current (mostly rectangular) in a...

he citation in Figure 1 is not from a recent visitor in Rome, but from the Roman author Martial some 2000 years ago. Anybody who has seen Roman roads that still exist or the streets of old Pompeii can easily imagine the noise created by the wagons rolling down these uneven streets. This sound is the ancient form of tire/road noise. Today’s tire/road noise is a matter of concern. In fact, it is ...
